Please email us at info@nevaehshope.org for more information if you are interested in helping Nevaeh’s Hope in any of the following ways:
Teaching Life Skills:
God has given each of us gifts and talents for us to use in the lives of others, and if you would like to share those talents we would love to have you! Some of those areas are: sewing, cooking, computers, photography, organizing, parenting, first aid/CPR, community events, health/nutrition, crafts, scrap booking, childbirth, Bible studies, arts, budget/finance, job skills, home safety, exercise, transportation, or any other skills not listed. As a life skills teacher you would donate an hour of your time weekly or bi-weekly to teach these young ladies some much needed skills. In these classes we have the curriculum and just need a willing heart to teach it.
Fill in House Parent:
Arrange in advance to give the House Director some relief time, or just be there to assist her. Nevaeh’s Hope is open 24/7, so we would love to have you volunteer your time in this area.
Becoming a post- partum volunteer is another way to help. This is someone who can help prepare a meal, help a mom with laundry, organize her room, or attend to the baby so the mom can get some much needed rest during her first week home from the hospital.
Meal Preparations:
Cooking and teaching the young ladies in our program how to cook is very important. Teaching them how to cook 1 or 2 easy, inexpensive, realistic, and healthy meals would be greatly appreciated. It doesn’t have to be anything elaborate, just meals that they would be able to recreate in the future.
Transportation:
We are in need of people to transport our birthmothers to doctor’s appointments, classes, church, and jobs. They currently use public transportation, but it would be nice for them to have a break from that every once in awhile especially as they get close to delivery.
Adopt a Guest Mom:
Having each resident have a friend/mentor while they are with us is an important part of our program. The women here have very limited support from family and friends and will appreciate all the love and attention you have to give. You will be an adviser to a specific mother and provide friendship, support, and discussion on appropriate topics. This is an area you will be blessed from also.
Prayer:
Becoming a prayer partner is being assigned to pray for a specific resident. You commit to pray for them daily and contact them at least one time weekly to ask for prayer requests and praises. This encourages them to be directed toward a Godly life for themselves and their baby.
Join us every 1st and 3rd Monday at Nevaeh’s hope for morning prayer for our ministry, staff, volunteers, and residents at 9am. Also committing to pray for our ministry in general would be greatly appreciated.
Donations:
We would love any donations of items for our moms and babies. Items greatly needed are: diapers (sizes N-5), wipes, bath items, baby blankets, new clothes, formula, bottles, bottle liners, onesies, car seats, portable cribs, maternity clothes, or any other items you find to be useful.
Hosting a no-name baby shower is also appreciated, and having people bring baby items not only for present residents, but also for future houseguests.
Another way to help with donations would be to help in receiving, sorting, washing, organizing and distributing these items.
Administration and Fundraising Support:
Regular up keep in filing, phone calls, newsletters, record keeping, plus planning and executing fundraisers are needed. The home has benefited from the Baby Bottle Program, but it isn’t enough. The Baby Bottle Program is going to churches and supplying them with baby bottles to fill with money and loose change. If you are interested having the baby bottle program at your church or have any other fundraising ideas or support please let us know. We also provide tax-deductible receipts for financial donations as well as cars and other private property gifts. Spreading the word about Nevaeh’s hope and sharing our brochure with neighboring churches, businesses, corporations, retailers, schools, companies, restaurants, family members, and friends is a huge help to us.
Childcare/Babysitting:
Our staff and residents are required to attend meetings, counseling, and classes which makes childcare during these times a need. If there is a specific time or day that you would be available to take care of the children of Nevaeh’s Hope, we would greatly appreciate it.
